You squeed in delight as you took your keyboard out of the cardboard box. You’d wanted one for so long! And having Roderich and his piano-playing around you, he was what concluded your decision.
I’ll make him stare at me in awe! You thought, grinning at yourself. Well, you’d managed to set it up properly, you sat on the plush seat, fidgeting slightly.
Your fingers itched to play, problem was you didn’t know how yet. That was why you’d asked for the Austrian to teach you. Not only did you know he was strict and wouldn’t allow you to slack off even if you were his friend, he said he wouldn’t allow himself to be paid.
Though to be fair, he asked that before and after the lesson he was to have a cup of coffee and slice of some type of lavish cake. Which of course, you consented to.
The keyboard in front of you was so different from Roderich’s grand piano, it also had a plethora of buttons. And you being the curious person you were, you had to press them! You had to find out what they did!
So you started pressing them, first all separately, then in combinations. “Demo?” You questioned, cocking your head as you blinked at said button. Grinning, you shrugged and tried it out.
Instantly, pretty music started playing and you gazed in wonder as you pressed it again, the amount of activations causing different songs to play.
“Hmmmm....” You murmured, a mischievous smile on your face.
Roderich made his way along the path up to your house, music scores under his arm. As he was a good friend of yours, he knew where you kept the spare key, not that it was particularly hard to find. After shoving the little pot of herbs up with his foot and getting the rusting metal from beneath it, he opened the door.
His eyes widened when he heard soft music being played, naturally on the piano. Returning the key to its spot and gently clicking the door shut, he stepped along the hallway to the back room, where you were ‘playing’.
You smirked as you’d hear him come in and you pretended to swoop down on the keys, your fingers moving in complex patterns along them. His jaw almost dropped to the floor as he stood in the doorway and he had to make conscious effort not to drop his music sheets.
As your back was facing him, he couldn’t see the vindictive twist of your lips, nor the way you were trying to hold in your laughter.
I knew she loved pianos, but I didn’t think she could play! Well, not this well anyways! He thought to himself, leaning on the doorframe and staring at you in wonder. The song is so pretty, just like her, was his last thought before he closed his eyes, humming along gently.
Though his peaceful state of mind was soon disrupted by you, waving your hand in front of his face. “Yoooo~ You in there Roddy?” He was about to growl at your petname for him, when his eyes shot open.
The music was still playing! How was that-?!
You grinned, waving at him. “Hi Roddy, enjoying the music?” You teased, sticking out your tongue at him. He turned red, spun on his heel and stormed outside. “Noo! Come back!” He didn’t turn back.
“I’ll give you some cake!”
You saw him freeze just after he’d exited. Stiffly turning around, he marched past you.
“..... That better be some good cake!”
