Anya cowered in fear behind her older brother. Nikolai advanced towards her, his hands out, ready to catch her should she make the mistake of leaving Dmitri’s side. You crinkled your nose, it was always the same with those three.
And though Nikolai was disturbing most times, you still quite enjoyed being around him. Because well.... because of what exactly? Not for his looks, though his stunning blue eyes were certainly beautiful and his pale skin and hair was beyond gorgeous.
It was because you envied him.
Sounds crazy right? But there was something about the thing that drove him to such lengths to get his sister to understand his feelings. You admired his ability to love so unconditionally, no matter how many times he failed to get the message across, he didn’t give up.
That persistence attracted you to him. Hearing the bickering pick up, you slammed your book onto the table and glared at them.
Anya was in the middle of her sentence. “-this is why I hate you! Just stay away from me, how many times do I have to say no until you understand! You’re stalkerish and freaky!”
You bit your lip, feeling your arguments bubble to your mouth. “He may be stalkerish and freaky.” You said and though your voice was much quieter than theirs, they stopped and stared at you.
“And yes, he is taking the whole thing a bit too far for my tastes, but at least he’s honest about his feelings. All he wants is to be loved and you pushing him away will leave him deprived and coming back for more.”
Your cold gaze surveyed the room and the siblings were nailed to the spot. “I really like that about you Nik. You love someone with your entire being, I can’t fathom doing something as amazing as that.”
Trailing off, you gulped now that you’d run out of things to say. “Well, I’ll be going then.” You muttered awkwardly, stiffly turning on your heel and making your way outside.
Nikolai blushed, dropping to his knees and covering his cheeks with his hands. He was really overheating. “Did she mean that?” He mumbled, his eyes wide.
Dmitri dropped his protective stance in front of his sister, Anya still frozen in shock about what you’d said.
Of course, you weren’t aware of this.... Or of the fact that Nikolai’s new prey was you.
